Diesel-Punk by QuantumBranching Diesel-Punk by QuantumBranching
Quicky: a sort of DieselPunk world in the early 21st century, inspired by a 1930s Jack Williamson short story. Communism is as dead as vaudeville, but Fascism, with an essentially capitalist economy, is still ticking along. No Hitler, but a *Fascist German leader with issues someone living in the US in 1935 would find believable. (From the point of view of someone living before the Anschluss, Hitler's later "achievements" would be rather ASB).

There's been no WWII, but there have been several "sub-critical" conflicts, such as the French-German "Three Hours War", the African Conflict, and the Soviet Civil War, in which the Japanese nabbed Siberia. People fear a final showdown may be in the offing, as the Japanese inceasingly shrilly claim US and Commonwealth and Russian meddling in their crumbling control over their Chinese puppet regimes...

Why did Chile go Fascist while Argentina didn't, considering Juan Peron was an actual fascist sympathizer?

Perhaps they did, and got better later.

After all, this world has been (noticeably) diverging from ours since the early 1930s, and I didn't want to be _too_ predictable...
